Proton launches Persona sedan
Persona
Launch of Proton Persona
Sneak preview of Proton Persona
PETALING JAYA: Proton has launched its long awaited 1.6-litre Persona sedan at prices rivalling those of 1.3-litre cars.
The Persona will replace the Proton Wira - one of Proton’s highest volume sellers since 1993.
Persona prices range from RM44,999, for the Base Line variant with five-speed manual gear box up, to RM55,800, for the High Line version with four-speed automatic transmission.
The new model, together with Proton's new ventures in China, will "mark the emergence of Proton from its low ebb,'' Managing Director Syed Zainal Abidin said in the company statement.
Proton has been losing money and market share in Malaysia, Southeast Asia's biggest passenger car market.
Proton said in its statement it could sell up to 48,000 units of the car during the first 12 months.
The company, which is 43 percent-owned by Khazanah Nasional, reported a loss of RM591.4 million ringgit for the year ended March 31, 2007 but it expects to be profitable in the new financial year.
Last month, Proton said it would sell at least 30,000 cars to Chinese firm Youngman Automobile Manufacturing Co., marking its first foray into China.
The car maker is also still in talks with Germany's Volkswagen AG on a possible alliance, with a final decision expected to be made by the end of the year, officials have said.
Proton has also pledged to cut costs, boost exports and introduce new models to prop up sales.
Besides the new Persona sedan, Proton reportedly plans to release other models including a multipurpose vehicle in 2009, officials said.

14-year-old girl’s ice cream date turns into rape
KLANG: A fourteen-year-old girl went on a blind date with an underage boy who promised her ice cream only to end up having sex with him.
The boy, also 14, has been remanded for alleged statutory rape.
The girl, who lives in Kuala Selangor, had received an SMS from the boy to go out for a good time at a shopping complex on Sunday afternoon.
The two apparently had subscribed to a service that helped them make friends through SMS.
The schoolgirl met the boy, who also lives in Kuala Selangor, at a shopping complex in Sungai Buloh for window-shopping, some vanilla ice cream and kopi-O.
The boy had told the girl that he was going to an adopted sister’s house in Kapar and would return to Kuala Selangor later.
The girl offered to accompany the boy on his motorcycle.
“On reaching the house in Kapar, the boy convinced the girl to have sex and both stayed the night in Kapar and returned the next morning,” he said.
Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof said a police report was lodged after the girl related the incident to her mother.

Watermelon
No other fruit says summer like the subtly crunchy, thirst quenching watermelon. Although watermelons can now be found in the markets throughout the year, the season for watermelon is in the summer when they are sweet and of the best quality.
As a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, the watermelon is related to the cantaloupe, squash and pumpkin, other plants that also grow on vines on the ground. Watermelons can be round, oblong or spherical in shape and feature thick green rinds that are often spotted or striped. They range in size from a few pounds to upward of ninety pounds.

Miracle in Eygpt-must read
> > > Murder Miracle in Egypt, A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife and then buried her with their infant baby and 8-year old daughter. The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids.15 days later, another family member died.
> > > When they went to bury him, they found the 2 little girls under the sand ALIVE!
> > >
> > > The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed. The older girl was asked how she had survived: A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister" she said.
> > >
> > > She was interviewed on Egyptian national TV, by a veiled Muslim woman news Anchor. She said on public TV: "This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this!" Muslims believe Issa (Jesus) would do this but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it's clear also that He is alive! But, it's also clear that the child could not make up a story like this and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

Time to control bloggers: Hisham
Kuala Lumpur: Umno Youth Chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the time has come for regulatory control of bloggers who resort to unethical means to belittle the country's leaders and mock national symbols and instruments. He said the movement would not tolerate anyone, particularly bloggers, who threaten national stability, harmony and traditional values of the country.
"Umno Youth warns that freedom has its limits and we will not tolerate those who touch on the issues of national stability, harmony, cultural values and the personality of national leaders," he said.
Hishammuddin related how irresponsible bloggers had victimised him and his family by spreading slander and even published the picture of an indecently attired young woman whom they claimed to be his daughter.
On Malaysian mass communications student Wee Meng Chee, 24, in Taiwan who rapped to the Negaraku in a video clip, Hishammuddin, who is Education Minister, said the student had discarded the cultures and values of Malaysian society.

1# bilionaire
William Henry Gates III (born October 28, 1955) is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist and chairman of Microsoft, the software company he founded with Paul Allen. During his career at Microsoft he has held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and he remains the largest individual shareholder with more than 8% of the common stock.[3] The annual Forbes magazine's list of The World's Billionaires has ranked Gates as the richest person in the world since 1995, with recent estimates putting his net worth near $56 billion.[2] When family wealth is considered, his family ranks second behind the Walton family, heirs of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. In July 2007, Fortune Magazine reported that the increase in value Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim's holdings of stock caused him to surpass Bill Gates as the world's richest man.[4][5]
Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Although he is widely admired,[6][7][8] his business tactics have been criticized as anti-competitive and in some instances ruled as such in court.[9][10] Since amassing his fortune, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000.

,600 YOUNGSTERS FOR CYC CLINIC3rd August 2007 – A total of 1,600 young football players will have the opportunity take part in a series of eight football clinics organised in conjunction with the forthcoming Champions Youth Cup.
The CYC Football Clinic, a community project spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will be held simultaneously on Aug 6 and 7 in Alor Star, Kuantan, Malacca and Kuching.
All four are CYC host venues for the first round group matches.
What makes this community programme especially interesting is the fact that all the 16 clubs competing in the CYC will be involved in the clinics.
Every football clinic will be handled by two clubs and will be attended by 200 students.
With two clinics in each of the four states, there will be eight clinics altogether.
The participants for these clinics were identified by the MSSM and state Football Associations.
The players, aged between 10 and 12-years, were selected during the various football competitions earlier in the year.
For the youngsters involved, the clinics will give them the opportunity to get close to the players from among the world’s top clubs.
More importantly, it will inspire the Malaysian boys to become top class players in the world.
The programme was officially launched at the Bukit Jalil Sports School yesterday by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Liow Tiong Lai.
Jonathan Price, the chairman of the Gifted Group, also attended the function.
All the football clinics, lasting two hours each, will kick-off at 4.30pm except for Kuching where it will start an hour earlier.
In Alor Star (where Group A is based), Ajax Amsterdam and AC Milan will attend the clinic on Aug 6 while Flamengo and Arsenal will be involved on Aug 7.
FC Porto and Inter Milan will be in action on Aug 6 in Malacca while English champions Manchester United and Boca Juniors will take on responsibilities the following day.
In Kuantan, Barcelona and Qatar have the honour of the first clinic on Aug 6 while Juventus and Paris St Germain take over the next day.
And finally in Kuching, where the Malaysian team is based, Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven have taken the first day duties while Chelsea and Malaysia come on the next day.
Tickets for the Champions Youth Cup are available at Watson's outlets in the Klang Valley, Kuching, Kuantan, Alor Star and Malacca.

sesuatu titik
